BBC Public Enemies Trailer (by sharpcoldlipsx)When I was doing my TV and radio show recommendations post a few days or so ago, I cannot believe I left out this astonishingly good three-part BBC drama from the beginning of the year. Seriously, what the hell was I thinking?!
Anyway, Public Enemies stars Daniel Mays and Anna Friel. Danny plays a young man who has just been released from prison after serving ten years for the murder of his girlfriend. Anna is his previously-disgraced supervising officer, if you like, who has the task of making sure he stays out of trouble and helping him reintegrate with society. In the course of the three episodes, he confesses something to her regarding his girlfriend’s murder, and she ends up becoming so entangled in his life and invested in helping him that she risks her job and her current relationship with her other half.
It is so well-written, well-directed, and well-acted, I cannot understand why it was shut out on all fronts for a TV BAFTA this year. It truly deserved to win All The Awards.
